About Me

Deborah Vlock
Boston, Massachusetts
I'm the mother of a boy who struggles with mental illness. This blog tells our story: darkness, love, occasional delight. Above all, my journey parenting a child who wants to die. The Striped Nickel began its life as a pseudonymous blog. I renamed myself "Anna Delaunay," combining the first name of my paternal grandmother and the last name of her sister, my paternal great aunt. My apologies to the real Anna Delaunays out there. On March 8, 2013 I "came out" here and revealed my identity. My real name is Deborah Vlock. I will never use the real names of Benjy, Lars, or Saskia on this blog or in any of my writing. I will not even name The Hellacious Hound, in order to protect his privacy. (If you were that badly behaved, you'd want protection, too.) Visit my writing website at www.deborahvlock.com. Contact me via my website or at anna.delaunay@earthlink.net for anything concerning the blog, writing, disability, or naughty keeshonds.
